Brunogram - April 22, 2005

Hello All You Bruno Grammys,

Spring here in the Rogue Valley is in full Swing. The trees, shrubs, and even some fence posts seem to be in full Bloom. As if that is not enough to prove that spring is here, last week while at a nearby lake for some R and R, I watched the sunrise to a beautiful blue sky. By sunset of that same day, I had seen the blue sky give-way to rain, snow, hail and heavy winds. Some of the rain and snow was horizontal. However by the time the sun was low, it had again returned to a nice warm day which had driven me back into my short pants and shirt sleeves.

While spending time at my perch over looking the Lake, I was privileged to be witness to nature going about it's business, both flora and Fauna. The sights and sounds of spring were all around me. There were geese honking as they moved from place to place on the lake, while the ducks not to be out done by the geese, would make there sounds of flight. There were the silent yet graceful flights of the mating pairs of both Osprey and Bald Eagle, as they would take turns fishing, while their respective mate remained on the job back at the nest. As the breeze would slow, indeed from time to time stop altogether, there were even the occasional plopping sound from the lake, followed by the telling rings of the fish jumping, while continueing its feeding ritual, in spite of the danger that circled aloft.

Sights and sounds were not the only senses to be treated to springs activity, for there was the role of the budding flowers on the nearby manzanita which blended it's sweetness with the wafting air currents intermittently. There were other wild flowers pushing forth their spring finery, not the least of which were the bright yellow and orange Poppy, the purple Lily's and others, coming together to make a very respectable bouquet indeed.

But you know I can only take so much of a good thing, I missed the sharp, piercing sounds of Pizza pans as they fall to wherever gravity takes them, from their poorly arranged stack! I also missed the high pitch squeak of the oven doors as they open, followed by the dull clunk as they close hundreds of times per hour. I missed the call of " Pizza Out, Order Back, Cutup, and Carry Out; my most favorite Bruno's sound is " REMAKE PLEASE "! Yes I may have been having just a little fun; I have been known to use, on that very rare occasion, a small measure of sarcasm to that end.

But spring is here, and that is no joke, or exaggeration. It is that time of year, here at Bruno's the we tend to have our greatest number of requests to use our two Private Party Rooms. ( what a sagway that was, Bill O'Reilly step aside )

We have in years past, had some of our most frustrating experiences, trying to meet your needs for a private room for your party, meeting, or family gathering. I have always known that these events tend to be fluid, subject to change and often at the last minute. But the challenge for us has been, how to be fair to both the patron and Bruno's, as it relates to the reservations of these two party-rooms.

After we accept your reservation for a private room, we will turn all others away, for that date and time.We therefore need to be assured that we will not suffer because of others forgetfulness or pour planning at best, or lack of consideration at worst.

It is to that end that we have now put into force what has been very loosely in place for years. In the simplest and shortest form, it is as follows.

When we accept your reservation, for a specific date and time, we also ask you to guarantee that reservation with a major credit or debit card, in the same manor as you would if you were to make reservations at any motel. If your plans change, we ask that you give at least 24 hours notice. The Small Party Room has a minimum food and beverage order to that room of $ 75.00 and the Large Party Room $150.00. There is however, NO CHARGE for the room. Should you be a no-show or give us less than 24 hours notice, those amounts are subject to being charged to your card.

Believe me, this is not some scheme to generate income for services not provided! It is only an attempt to give those who were well intended at the time of making reservations, a reason to keep us in the loop, thus we are not the last to know of a change in your plans.

I sincerely hope that none of you will be offended by this policy or it's application. It is, I believe , a reasonable request for we have only two such rooms and when we hold them for you at the exclusion of all others, we are exposing ourselves and at the same time, not able to serve others. If any of you have a BRAINSTORM that you beleive may improve our operation, please feel free to pull on my sleeve sometime while I am walking in the dinning room, or if you prefer, send us your ideas to our website.
